Greetings

Hey there Lion Fam!

We get SO MANY requests on how to treat low back pain and a lot of the time it’s from patients that aren’t even coming to us for back pain! If that’s not telling how common this condition is then I don’t know what is!

Low back pain is not only one of, if not, THE most common diagnosis we see here at Lion physical therapy, it’s also regarded as one of the most complex and difficult to treat forms of musculoskeletal pain.

But do not fear, your physical therapist is here!

The most important job of a physical therapist is to appropriately categorize which TYPE of low back pain you may be experiencing in order to recommend a home exercise program best suited for YOU.

There are a vast number of reasons for low back pain but most actually fall into the category of Non-Specific Low Back Pain! This is defined as low back pain not attributable to a recognizable, known specific pathology. Seems like a lot of words that tell us absolutely nothing, bummer right? Not quite!

The good news is that research shows that a variety of different exercise forms are most helpful for treatment of this form of low back pain which means the possibilities are literally endless!

In this series we are going to share some of Lion’s favorite low back exercises that we use for non-specific low back pain broken down by exercise type! For our first category we chose MOBILITY.

These exercises are amazing for dealing with that stiff morning back or extra pain and soreness after a good workout.

*Disclaimer* These exercises are in NO way a substitute for a proper physical examination by your physical therapist. These exercises should NOT INCREASE PAIN.
