Greetings

Dr. Moscatiello here with a follow up to the last newsletter!

We were on the subject of neck pain earlier this month. If you didn’t read it you can find it HERE. In the post I mentioned that strengthening is an integral part of dealing with neck pain.

Plenty of our patients have their own strengthening and weight training programs already BUT how many of you are DIRECTLY training the neck muscles?

That’s where our new piece of equipment comes in, the IRON NECK!

People tend to shy away from strengthening the neck out of fear of hurting themselves, but the neck is made of striated muscle just like your quadriceps and biceps! So why shouldn’t we try and make it stronger?

Research shows that it is an effective way to decrease neck pain, headaches and it can reduce the risk of concussions (if that’s your thing). Find out how to incorporate the Iron Neck into your exercise routine safely and effectively by booking HERE or giving us a call at ‪(347) 561-8002‬.

Healthy Habit Tip

Get Up and Go With a Healthy Diet

For people seeking weight loss, a healthy diet and exercise are almost always the first prescriptions. When people hear this, some will justify unhealthy eating choices by adding in extra exercise.

What they don’t realize, however, is that eating healthy would give them more energy to exercise in the first place. That oomph, the “dig deep” type of motivation, is often not a product of a person’s grit, but of their diet.

A healthy diet impacts not only the waistline, but overall energy levels, sleep quality, and the “get-up-and-go” that helps us exercise.

EAT WELL

Spring has sprung, and it’s time to prepare for a family holiday meal. Look no further than these delicious dishes that incorporate traditional Easter flavors into healthy and satisfying plates. By ditching the crust in a quiche and combining a nutrient-packed grain with asparagus, these meals hit the mark for both clean and scrumptious.

Mushroom Barley and Roasted Asparagus Salad

From: foodnetwork.com

Asparagus is a potassium-rich vegetable that highlights the vibrancy of spring. By adding nutty barley and earthy mushrooms, the salad gets boosts of protein and healthy polysaccharides to leave you satisfied, but not overly stuffed.

Try this one out as your next side dish for a springtime brunch or dinner!
