Hey everyone! We're introducing Cutting-Edge Running Analysis at Lion Physical Therapy!
As running experiences its largest boom in decades, and we continue to see more and more running-related injuries, we want to stay on the cutting edge of technology in order to best serve our patient population. This includes using recent advancements in gait analysis technology…
Introducing the Runeasi 3D gait analysis system!
This new system will allow us to analyze parameters and factors of both walking and running gait that just aren’t possible to the naked eye allowing us to bring our treatments and services to the next level!
What is it?
The Runeasi is a wearable biomechanic monitoring device that focuses on 3 main components of gait: limb symmetry, impact loading and dynamic stability. Things that can be very difficult if not impossible to see with visual analysis alone. It can also be used not only in the clinic on a treadmill but can store 2 hours of run data for outdoor analysis as well!
Who is this for?
This device can be used by anyone and everyone interested in getting into running. Whether you are considering your first 5k, rehabbing from an injury, trying to push your mile time down or are preparing for your first “long race”. It can not only be implemented for rehabilitation purposes, but can be used for injury prevention, performance enhancement as well as providing objective data overtime to track progress. See below to find out more how it can help us:
Injury Prevention:
One of the primary objectives of run gait analysis is to identify biomechanical inefficiencies and asymmetries that may predispose you to injuries. By pinpointing areas of concern, physical therapists can prescribe targeted exercises and corrective strategies to address these issues before they escalate into full-blown injuries. For instance, if you consistently overpronate or have excessive hip drop during running, addressing these imbalances through specific strengthening exercises can mitigate the risk of developing conditions like shin splints, IT band syndrome, or stress fractures.
Performance Optimization:
Efficient running mechanics are not only crucial for injury prevention but also for enhancing performance. Through gait analysis, physical therapists can identify areas where you may be losing energy or experiencing unnecessary strain, thereby hindering your performance. By refining your technique and biomechanics, you can optimize your stride efficiency, increase running economy, and potentially shave off seconds from your personal bests.
Customized Rehabilitative Treatment Plans:
No two runners are alike; similarly, no two gait patterns are identical. Run gait analysis allows physical therapists to tailor treatment plans according to your specific needs and biomechanical characteristics. Whether you require flexibility improvements, strength training, neuromuscular re-education, or footwear recommendations, your therapy regimen can be customized to address your unique gait deficiencies and goals.
Long-term Monitoring & Real Time Feedback:
Gait analysis is not a one-time assessment but rather an ongoing process. As you progress in your running journey or undergo rehabilitation for an injury, periodic reassessment of your run gait can help track your improvements and identify any emerging issues. By monitoring your gait over time, physical therapists can intervene proactively to prevent setbacks and ensure continued progress towards your running goals.
Since this system analyzes movement on the fly, this setup enables us to make real-time gait adjustments with every step you take. This allows us to use cues and tips on the fly to see how your body responds at the exact moment it occurs!
How Long Does it Take?
The session will take roughly 50 min to 1 hour and will include a full subjective interview, goal setting, a battery of functional tests, and gait analysis by one of our experts. We can then provide a personalized printout with your Runner Score and a customized exercise program to help you reach your goals.
